Serving a population of over 141,000, the Borough of Poole employs over 5,000 people. Like many public sector organisations, the Council needed to reduce costs whilst continuing to improve front line service delivery. It looked to Selima to help improve the efficiency of a key back office function that was reliant on a dated legacy payroll and HR system.

The group also champions a variety of charity projects, with recent contributions including a £500,000 donation to Action Against Hunger.

Critical Action

By implementing Selima, the Borough of Poole benefited from an intuitive, easy to use system delivering high levels of functionality and automation and self-service for managers and staff.

Results

The Council achieved significant improvements in efficiency that enabled it to reduce headcount in the payroll team alone by 45%. Staff reductions in other areas of HR have increasingly freed staff for other work.

In addition, managers and employees now have access to more data giving much better transparency.  The Council can also provide a good service to other organisations such as Academy Schools.

Going forward, the Council will be working with Selima to implement further capabilities to deliver even more improvement.
