Can you tell us a little bit about your job?
I’m a Product Specialist and a member of Selima’s sales team. I follow up new business leads and perform demonstrations of the software. I also do some testing of the product and making recommendations/suggestions to the development team.
What did you do before you came to Selima?
My background is working in HR for various organisations, mostly in the public sector. This gives me a good insight into what our customers need.
What are the key changes you’ve seen in the HR in recent years?
Organisations seem to be learning to embrace self service more and devolve some tasks to employees and their managers rather than HR doing it for them.
What do you think are the future priorities for HR Professionals?
It’s important that HR professionals dispel the myth that they are only there for ‘hand holding’ and comforting upset employees. HR professionals are an important part of any organisation and contribute to all areas;from employee support to talent management to providing management information and helping to shape an organisation’s structure, workforce and vision.
What is one thing about you that might surprise people?
When I’m not working for Selima, I am a singer in a wedding band.
The Sound of Music, Sister Act 2, basically anything with singing nuns in it.
What five things would you put in Room 101?
People who don’t pay at the pump
Who do you look to for inspiration and why?
I admire strong, smart, independent women. My mum is a good example of this and is everything I aspire to be. See also Beyonce!
