Wokingham Borough Council manages payroll for nearly 60 local schools. Schools range from day nurseries, infant, junior and special education schools; right up to large secondary sixth forms. The council decided that with such a complex requirement it would look to outsource payroll and Selima was selected due to our strong background in the schools sector.

Critical Action

With nearly 60 schools under Wokingham’s care, payroll was a huge operation for the Council, made even more difficult by the fact it was paper based. Lost paperwork and duplication errors were always a risk. Further difficulty came with having to keep up to date with legislation such as LGPS and TPS and Pension Auto Enrolment. What Wokingham needed was a service whereby each school could submit their own payroll information in an easy and efficient manner, safe in the knowledge that a reliable payroll service would ensure staff were paid correctly and on-time.

Results

Selima provides a managed payroll service whereby each school is able to make amendments and salary changes using an easy to access portal. The portal is used to submit payroll information, which is where we take over and handle the rest.

We ensure that staff are paid on time, with the correct third party payments and deductions made. Selima also produces ePayslips, enabling staff to log onto our portal to view pay details.

Wokingham was also the first Selima customer to sign up for our Pension Auto Enrolment Admin Service – we manage all correspondence with the employees and ensure the whole process is compliant.
